Dennis Rodman in North Korea: WTF?

Dennis Rodman

Dennis Rodman in North Korea

Dennis Rodman finished his third trip to North Korea and once again cause a media shit storm. Dennis Rodman claims all of his visits, his bromance with the supreme leader Kim Jong-un and his goodwill basketball game is “basketball diplomacy” and will open up the door to North Korea “a little”. On the other hand, Western media expresses rage and confusion that Dennis Rodman and his band of misfits actually get access to North Korea and Kim Jong-un whereas other diplomatic avenues fail.  The media also expresses great concern that Dennis Rodman is representing the free world.  Deniss Rodman’s motives, loyalties, ethics, moral compass and now soberness is always cast in doubt and may actually cause more harm than good.

First, let’s review the timeline and activities of Dennis Rodman in North Koreas.

February 26, 2013 – Dennis Rodman in North Korea?! Rodman makes his first trip to North Korea. He seems to get to be buddies with Kim Jong-un, calling him “Un” and a “friend for life”. This first trip was sponsored by VICE. On their Youtube channel, they say VICE “specializes in exploring uncomfortable truths and going to places we don’t belong.” Agreed.

September 3, 2013 – Rodman makes a second trip to North Korea. He takes a vacation with Kim Jong-un and his family.  He claims he to have held Kim Jong-un’s daughter Ju-ae and said Kim Jong-un is a “good dad”.

January 6, 2014 – Rodman appeared on CNN with Chris Cuomo.  Rodman expressed his ignorance about many issues.

January 8, 2014 – Rodman participates in an exhibition game in North Korea with former NBA players. He sings “Happy Birthday” to Jim Jong-un.  The best video to see about this is Jimmy Kimmel’s version of the events. [Below]

What is the future of the unholy alliance between Kim Jong-Un and Dennis Rodman?  I suspect it will continue be ridiculous cringe-worthy joke.
